If I could sum up Lucy and James’s wedding day in one word I would simply say: “Fabulous!”
The venue chosen by the couple for their special day was the Alcaidesa Golf Club overlooking Gibraltar and the Mediterranean. And it couldn’t have been otherwise given that Lucy’s family are all very keen golfers and have long been members of the Club.
I arrived at the club house to find an army or people preparing for the wedding celebrations: florists standing up to their knees in the fountain decorating it, arranging flowers and lemon centrepieces on the tables, and creating the most amazing floral and fruit compositions.
Lucy got ready at her parents’ home, a short distance from the club house, accompanied by her bridesmaids Becky, Emily K., Emily J. and Hannah while James got ready with his bestman, Richard and groomsmen Archie, Matt and Henry.
While the girls preparations where a turmoil of hairdryers, lipsticks, curlers and ruffles, as one can well imagine, the atmosphere in the boys house was very calm and the morning went very smoothly thanks also to Archie’s bow tying skills.
The beautiful ceremony took place on the terrace overlooking the Mediterranean and was attended by a large crowd of 140 guests who arrived from all over the world to take part to this very special day. Even Lucy and James’s spaniel was there and played the role of the trusty ring bearer. Tears could not be spared and the emotion of the ceremony rippled through the day.
After the family portraits we went off in a convoy of golf carts to the 13th green for a some more photos. The view of Gibraltar here was spectacular and offered a unique backdrop to our photos. Then we were treated to a flamenco ballet complete with dancer and horse and after dinner and some speeches the most brilliant pink sky offered again another occasion for portraits before the party got really started and the rest of the night passed dancing under the sky.
